Foodie Friday: Fourth of July Favorites

Next week is America’s birthday! Can you believe it? June just flew by me. I have always measured the length of summer by the Fourth of July. Most of my life this holiday meant the sunniest season was halfway over and only one month until school resumed. However, in New York that is not the case. Students here finished school just days ago, so the Fourth kicks off summer vacation and Labor Day ends it. Regardless, we can all agree this is the perfect time for a cookout (or BBQ, again depending where you live…). Many of us have traditions when it comes to how we celebrate July 4th, almost all of which include food. So, I thought today’s post would be perfect for sharing my favorite sides, desserts, and and a drink for this time of year. Hopefully you will find something new and delicious to serve along with your burgers and hot dogs next week!

Ina Garten’s Corn Salad
(I like to add red peppers for an extra pop of color)

Not Yo’ Mama’s Dill Potato Salad
(one word-hot sauce!)

Cream Cheese Berry Trifle with Angel Food Cake
(Thank You Sunny Anderson!)

The Best Chocolate Cupcakes, recipe from “Mis-Cakes Oven Adventures”
(Top with Strawberries, Blueberries, and a Sparkler!)

And of course what party would be complete without a cocktail option to be served alongside those ice cold beers?

Martha Stewart’s Champagne Punch
(Keep it Red, White and Blue with Berries or Watermelon)

So what will you be serving up this Fourth of July? Share your favorite sides, desserts, and drinks!
